Medium: Embroidery on Tea Stained Hankie
Statement: A hanky is a reminder of another era, a delicate and yet practical accoutrement to any outfit. My grandmother Phoebe Ninette, who was a regular hanky carrier, recently passed away. The writing on the hanky is in French (a reference to her heritage) and means 'one fell off the perch', which is an idiom for death. The bird lying under the swing and ladder has a fragility, sadness and peace and reminds me of the pet budgies that old ladies had in their apartments.
ohhhh. It is so sad.
